Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do I request a quote?
Scroll to the bottom of my website and you'll find a short questionnaire. This information will help me give an accurate price estimate. Fill out the form and click "Submit". Once the form is submitted I will reach out as soon as possible!
  • Why should I get my car hand-washed instead of going to a traditional car wash?
Auto washes are very good at two things: taking your money and ruining your vehicle's paint job while it's at it. Even hand washing a car can lead to scratching and marring of the paint, if done improperly. Here at HMD I use the safest and most efficient processes to wash your vehicle without damaging the paint!
  • How often should I get a maintenance detail?
Having your vehicle detailed at least once per month would keep it in great shape for the long haul. If you want your vehicle to ALWAYS look its best, then it should be detailed weekly or bi-weekly. For general maintenance, a detail every two to three months is standard.
  • How far in advance can I schedule my service?
Services can be booked out as far as 3 months in advance.
  • What if I need to reschedule?
Make contact with me to reschedule your service and I will do my best to accommodate based on what openings are available.
  • What payment methods do you accept?
Card, cash and Zelle are all accepted forms of payment.
  • Why do you offer quotes instead of fixed-rate prices?
Vehicle condition can vary greatly and may require a higher level of service to complete the detail.
  • Is a ceramic coating right for me and my vehicle?
That answer can vary from person to person. I would not recommend that absolutely everyone have their vehicle ceramic coated. With every ceramic coating comes a commitment to maintain it. See more information on coating maintenance in the below FAQ. Keep in mind that it is hugely beneficial to have your vehicle ceramic coated, if you can make that commitment to maintaining it. It becomes much easier and more enjoyable to maintain a coated car! It has a "self-cleansing" effect once rinsed with water, the paint is super slick during the contact portion of the wash and can be dried with a leaf blower for a touchless dry! If your vehicle is a solution to getting from point A to B and nothing more, that's absolutely fine! There is nothing wrong with that, but a coating might not be for you. However, if you're really into vehicle preservation and you want your investment to look as good as new for as long as possible, then a ceramic coating is an excellent option for you!
  • How do I maintain my ceramic coating?
Any coating, no matter the claimed longevity, will not last nearly as long as it should without proper maintenance. Once a coating has been applied it should be hand-washed at least once per month and decontaminated quarterly to revive its hydrophobic nature. It would also be beneficial to add a "top-up" layer of protection, such as a spray wax or sealant, to prolong the longevity of your coating. ***Automatic car washes are NOT a good way to maintain any vehicle's exterior, let alone one with a coating.*** Maintenance specific to your ceramic coating is included in my Quick & Thorough: Exterior detail service.
  • What is the difference between a paint correction and paint enhancement?
A paint enhancement is suitable for newer vehicles and vehicles that are in overall good condition. If your paint needs a boost of gloss and light defect removal, than this level of service is what you're looking for. A paint correction is suitable for vehicles that need more of an overhaul to the paint job. Examples of this include oxidized paint, paint with heavy defects/swirls and paint with hard water spots etched into the clear coat. Both services follow the same sort of process, but will vary in how long it takes to complete.
  • What exactly is paint correction?
Paint correction is the removal if imperfections from a vehicle's paint. Imperfections can include hazing, light to moderate scratches, oxidation, hard water spots, and swirl marks. In order to remove these sorts of imperfections, a very tiny layer of the clear coat is removed during the paint correction process to achieve a smooth and shiny finish to the paintwork.
